PROFILE / LEE-ANN POWER / WOMEN’S TEAM TRAINER

Lee-Ann Power is the trainer for the FFC Women’s team. She became interested in women’s football when her daughter Abbey (Captain of the women’s team 2022-2023) joined Beleura Junior Football Club at 15 and Lee-Ann volunteered as the trainer. The following year she became the head trainer for the Beleura club.

Lee-Ann is a registered nurse and works for the Mornington Peninsula Shire as a maternal and child health nurse. She is in her 37th year of nursing. She started her career by joining the Army at 17 years of age. Training as a medic, she spent 6 years with the Army, finishing with the Commandos Special Forces. In addition to being a football trainer, Lee-Ann has also been the medical support for the Australia Karate Team where Abbey competed in India in 2015 and NZ in 2018. Lee-Ann has always been involved in the community, starting at aged 3 as a nipper in lifesaving; serving her country; working as a nurse; as a football trainer, and also as a team manager supporting her other daughter’s domestic and representative basketball teams.

Lee-Ann’s job as the trainer is to look after the girls medically. This involves strapping, massage and attending to someone on the field if they get injured. She always say, “it’s a good day if I don’t need to go on the field”. Currently she is the only trainer for the Women’s team so it is a busy role! She prepares the medical gear each week, packs gear for away games with the help of Glen Adams, Head Steward, and along with Jodie, the Women’s team Manager, fills the water bottles and provides pre-, during, and post-game nutrition.

She feels very privileged to be a part of the Frankston Football Club to help the girls on their journey to the VFL. She has really loved watching the women progress from their inception to their 3rd year and how they have developed.

We are fortunate to have generous volunteers like Lee-Ann, Jodie and Glen bringing an extensive array of skills and knowledge to their roles with the Women’s team. If you or anyone you know, would be interested in assisting Lee-Ann as a trainer or helping out with any of the other volunteer roles available (Women’s team Physio, assistant Steward, game day water runners), please email Zane Diamond at diversity@frankstonfc.com.au or via Facebook.
