Nathan Freeman Commits to the Dolphins in 2020

Frankston Football Club is delighted to announce the re-signing of former St.Kilda and Collingwood midfield Nathan Freeman for the 2020 season.  Freeman made an immediate impression at SkyBus Stadium in 2019, with his ability to rack up possessions and his trademark burst from stoppages.

Speaking to Dolphins Media he said, ‘I’m pumped to be re-signed as a Dolphin for next year.  I loved getting around the boys this year and I’m super hungry for on-field success…..so with players like Will Fordham, Josh Newman and plenty of others leading the way, we’re already training for a bigger and better 2020.’

Freeman will continue his role as a coach with the Dolphins Academy in 2020, where his game knowledge and ability to teach was a standout feature for the 25 members of the Academy in 2019.  Having recently also entered the AFL player management industry through Connors Sports Management, he is developing a well-rounded skillset that should see him as a key player in the AFL industry for years to come.

With another key signing in the bag, coach Danny Ryan was up and about when we spoke to him.  ‘Freezer is a class player and his ability to find and distribute the ball through the middle is a key for our club.  I’m rapt to have him on board at the club again next year.  With a full pre-season and an injury-free run, I still think he can find his way back on to an AFL list but until then I expect him to continue to cause major headaches for opposition sides in the VFL.’

Freeman adds to the group of signings for the Dolphins, with others to put pen to paper:

  • 2019 Best & Fairest winner Will Fordham
  • Club Captain Josh Newman
  • Leadership group member and crowd favourite Aloysio Ferreira-Neto
  • Emerging tall defender Dylan Gordon
  • Key backman and emerging leader Max Williams
  • Courageous backman Liam Hiscock
