Dear members and supporters of the Frankston Football Club,
For the first time since 2006, and some 6944 days, the Frankston Football Club is hosting a final at our home, Kinetic Stadium. And whilst the Club has made significant progress both on and off field since that time, it is important to recognise that the job is not done and that on-field opportunities, such as the one presented to us this week, are not to be taken for granted.
The Victorian Football League, by virtue of the fact it is the second strongest Australian Football league in Australia, is the second strongest Australian Football league in the world. Some of the game’s best players play in this league on a weekly basis. Elite environments such as these are spaces where people are challenged. In finals, where the cream rises to the top and the good teams come out to play, the challenges only multiply.
It is now important for the Frankston Football Club, its members and its supporters to show that we belong in this elite environment and believe that we can beat the best teams in this competition. And we should believe it; we have shown we can and we have the ability to show it again.
Every member and supporter of the Frankston Football Club must carry that belief with them. From what we’ve seen this season, not only will our team meet the challenge, but present itself as a formidable challenge to our opposition.
On Saturday night we are on our patch, in front of our crowd – there is nowhere in the world we would rather be than Saturday evening, under lights, at Frankston Park. We must – as a collective – own the moment and dictate terms.
So as the loudest, most passionate and biggest fanbase in the Victorian Football League, let’s go in to Saturday with our chests out, knowing that our Club at its best is a Club that can win premierships.
If we all do our part and unite behind our boys – it will happen.
