JOSH NEWMAN COMES HOME TO THE DOLPHINS..

Frankston is delighted to announce the signing of former player and 2016 Best and Fairest winner Josh Newman for season 2019.  Josh graduated from the Mornington juniors and Dandenong Stingrays, prior to his first three seasons at Frankston which were topped off with a B&F win in the final round of 2016.  With the club in recess in 2017, Josh moved to Williamstown with a number of other ex-Dolphins and continued his great form culminating in state selection and an invite to the 2017 state combine.

The 2018 season took a different turn for Josh, with a surfing safari through South America taking up six months of the year and clearly enjoying a season away from football.  Refreshed and surf-fit, Josh is raring to get started in his preparation for the 2019 season, commencing with the start of pre-season on Monday November 12.

Josh is a teacher by trade and currently working part-time at Padua College.

The club is delighted to welcome back Josh to Frankston, with his girlfriend Sarah, brother Nic and parents, who collectively have been terrific contributors on-field and off for a number of years now.

Upon signing, Josh said ‘I’m wrapt to be back at Frankston and very excited for the 2019 season.  I’m sending a message to all the other players out there to get on board at Frankston and be part of the Dolphs rebirth.  It’s going to be exciting.’

Coach Danny Ryan was delighted with this key signing.  ‘Josh is one we had targeted for the past 12 months now.  Obviously the club was keen to sign him for the 2018 season, but we were still happy to see him take a dream trip.  Josh has tremendous character both on the field and off, plus a ripping personality that makes him a natural leader.  We see this as an extension of our club’s recruiting policy of getting good people in the building.  Josh certainly fits the bill.’
